The Crowley Chamber of Commerce recently announced plans for a candidate forum to be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Grand Opera House of the South in historic downtown Crowley.  As chairman of the Chamber’s Legislative committee, Michael Hensgens of G&H Seed Company has lent a substantial amount of support in preparing for the event.

The public forum will commence promptly at 6:30pm at the Grand Opera House of the South in downtown Crowley.  The candidates for District 42 State Representative will begin the evening, followed by candidates for Acadia Parish Clerk of Court and Acadia Parish Tax Assessor.  Each will have an opportunity to give an opening statement followed by questions.  The questions will be selected from topics submitted by the local business community and will not be presented to the candidates prior to their appearance that evening.

The candidates for seats in Acadia Parish Police Jury will complete the evening.  Each will be allowed two minutes to state their goals and ideas for their term, if elected.  Former Crowley Mayor, Isabella de la Houssaye, will preside over the evening’s proceedings.

Prior to the forum, a private Business After Hours event for Chamber members and candidates will be held in the first floor Ballroom of the Opera House at 5:00pm.  Sponsors, Carmichael’s Cashway Pharmacy, G&H Seed Company, The Southwest Group, along with First National Bank, Rice Palace and Dugas, Soileau & Breaux, will be providing hors d'oeuvres and refreshments for those in attendance at the After Hours event.

Chamber members planning to attend Business After Hours are asked to RSVP in advance, REGISTER HERE.  For questions regarding the event, please contact the Crowley Chamber of Commerce office, 337-788-0177.
