Since 1995, the Crowley Chamber of Commerce has successfully dispersed funds from a USDA Revolving Loan Fund. Equipped with a $150,000 of federal grant money, the Chamber has loaned money to its local business owners to assist them in the expansion of their respective businesses. Since its inception, the loan program has circulated over $350,000 in funds to small businesses. The program takes a proactive stance in loaning money to businesses at a fixed interest rate and up to $15,000. Businesses are required to use the funds for the acquisition of property, renovation of property, training, machinery and equipment, or to assist in business start-up. Funds must also assist the business in job creation and retention.
In effort to promote the retention of our local businesses, the Chamber encourages businesses to apply for the loans immediately, as the funds are limited. We encourage businesses to take advantage of the funding available. Loan packets may be requested through the Chamber office, where individuals may also sign up for individual counseling and assistance with applications. Contact the Crowley Chamber of Commerce for more information at 788-0177 or visit, www.CrowleyChamber.com.
The Federal Equal Credit Opportunity Act prohibits creditors from discriminating against credit applicants on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, handicap, age (provided that the applicant has the capacity to enter into a binding contract); because all or part of the applicant’s income is derived from any public assistance program; or because the applicant has in good faith exercised any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act. The Federal agency that administers compliance with this lay is the Federal Trade Commission, Equal Credit Opportunity, Washington, D.C. 20580. The Crowley Chamber of Commerce is an equal opportunity lender and employer.
