"Barely Heirs" presented by Pandemonium Theater
This outrageous adult comedy under Director Machelle Booty and Stage Design by Robert Baxter brings the audience a fun filled evening of laughs, frantics, chaos, and confusion as the main character, Jane, played by Crowley native Ashley Fontenot, is a career minded woman who tries desperately to find a way to get her inheritance despite the many unexpected obstacles being thrown at her at the worst possible time, payday, she creates a unique web of intrigue in her quest for the fortune.
Jane’s uncle passed away nine months ago and now it’s time for her inheritance check to be delivered by the attorney since she met the one requirement of being married for six months. However, Jane is “not really technically married, just kinda sorta of married” to her best friend’s husband, Tom, played by Brian “BJ” Cornez of Iota. The plotting duo has devised the perfect plan to get the inheritance check; the only problem is that nothing is going according to the master plan.
Jane’s uncle’s attorney, William, played by Casey Harmon of Rayne, calls and is on his way, but Tom is nowhere to be found. So Jane convinces her best friend and Tom’s real wife, Claire, played by Brittany Richard of Crowley, to dress up like a man and “start acting like her husband” in order to convince William that they are married and thus give over that inheritance check.
To complicate matters even worse, Jane’s ex-boyfriend, Paul, played by Aaron Bertrand of Crowley, comes over to make a surprise announcement that he wants to rekindle his relationship with Jane and is moving back in today. But that’s not the only surprise visitor. Jane’s mother, Betty, played by Ricci Arnaud of Crowley, arrives and wants to spend time with the newlyweds. Then to make matters even worse, Officer Hanes, played by Michael Brooks of Iota, gets a call of some suspicious activity in the neighborhood and comes to investigate.
